    Khanカーン

    活動期間が短かったため、あまり語られる機会のないバンドだが、しかしたった１枚残されたアルバムは、70年代前半のカンタベリー・シーンの魅力をフル搭載した充実作である。後にゴングに加入し大活躍するスティーヴ・ヒレッジが71年に結成したバンドで、当初はトリオ編成でジャジーなアンサンブルを聴かせていた。
    が、レコーディングでは、学生時代の友人であり、その頃すでにエッグでデビューを果たし、後にハットフィールド＆ザ・ノースやナショナル・ヘルスでカンタベリー・シーンの中核を担っていくデイヴ・スチュアートに全面参加を依頼。結果、完成した１st（にして唯一の）アルバムは、ヒレッジとスチュアートの２人のジャジーなインタープレイをフィーチャーした、その後のカンタベリー・シーンの雛型ともいえる作品として完成する。
    アルバム完成後はスチュアートを正式にメバーとして加えツアーも行なったが、72年に解散。　（小池清彦）
