    ジョン・ヘンリー・バービーは30年代にブルースを歌い始めた。故郷のテネシー州ヘニングの周辺でスキルを磨き、後に短期間だがサニー・ボーイ・ウィリアムスンとサニーランド・スリムのもとで学んだ。彼の音楽は、埃っぽいアコースティック・スライド・ギターと、歌の中に散りばめられた陶然とするような語りが実に魅力的だ。64年、拘置所で交通事故の判決を待っている間に心臓発作で倒れ逝去。
