    燦々と輝く太陽に真っ青な海、真っ白なビーチを舞台に繰り広げられる青春ドラマの数々……。まさにビーチ・ボーイズの曲で歌われている世界だが、ジェフリー・フォスケットも、そんなカリフォルニア・サウンドの体現者である。
    生まれも育ちも生粋のカリフォルニアっ子であるフォスケットは、80年代に憧れのビーチ・ボーイズのツアー・メンバーとして活動し、大ヒット・ナンバー「ココモ」のレコーディングにも参加。99年からはブライアン・ウィルソンのワールド・ツアーにおいて参謀役を務め、今ではビーチ・ボーイズ・ファミリーの一員に数えられている。
    ソロ・アーティストとしても、96年の『スルー・マイ・ウインドウ〜恋は窓から』を皮切りに、ミニ・アルバム『ハーティング・イーチ・アザー』（96年）、『クール・アンド・ゴーン』（97年）といった珠玉のポップ・チューン満載のアルバムを発表。ビーチ・ボーイズだけでなくブリティッシュ・ビートなどの影響をストレートに自分のサウンドに反映させ、蕩けるような甘味のメロディとドリーミーなコーラスを配したパワーポップを作り上げた。
    そして00年には、ブライアン・ウィルソン／ロバート・ラム（シカゴ）／ジェリー・ベックリー（アメリカ）／ラリー・ラモス（アソシエーション）／マーシャル・クレンショウら豪華ゲストを迎えた『12 & 12』を制作。ジャケ写にあるような、リッケンバッカーの12弦ギター・サウンドをフィーチャーした、万華鏡ポップ・ワールドを展開している。ソングライティング／歌唱／アレンジ共に、いまや名人の域に達しているといっていい。いや〜、こんな音世界なら何時間でも身を浸していられます……。
