    Jay Hoggardジェイ・ホガード

    ミルト・ジャクソンやゲイリー・バートンと並ぶ名ヴィブラホン・プレイヤー。キャリアの初期こそ主に故郷のニュー・イングランドのアヴァンギャルド・ジャズ・シーンを中心に活動を行っていたが、70年代後半にニューヨークに移住し、セッション・ミュージシャンとして活躍。ソロ・アルバムを制作できるチャンスを獲得すると、一転してコマーシャルなフィールドにアプローチし、フュージョン風の演奏にのって涼やかな音色を聴かせるリゾート・ジャズ・スタイルを確立して人気を博した。その後もセッション・ミュージシャンとしてケニー・バレルやセシル・テイラーの録音に参加しながら、自己名義の作品をコンスタントに発表。今も現役で活躍中だ。
