ジャクソン・ブルースの大巨人、トミー・ジョンソンの弟分として有名。ジョンソンとは27年に出会い、初吹き込みも28年の同じ日に行われたという息の合いよう。演奏スタイルも似ている。しかし滑らかなジョンソンの歌唱に対し、ブレイシーのそれは押しつぶしたような声でゴツゴツとした質感がある。
