    Indigo Girlsインディゴ・ガールズ

    デュオといえば、むかしはホール＆オーツ、いまやインディゴ・ガールズ。あの無垢でキラキラしたヴォーカルのハーモニーが聴こえるや否や、聴衆に感動がうずまく。エミリー・サリアーズとエイミー・レイの間には歌によってぜんぜん違ったパワーとテンションが現われるらしく、アップテンポな曲ではほとんどコメディのコンビだし、別の時には曲作りとアレンジがあまりにもうますぎるので、ふたりは他の星から地球を救いにでもやって来たんじゃないかと思わず疑ってしまう。そのふたりの音楽的関係はそれこそ山あり谷あり、いろんなことをのり越えてやっと到達した境地に違いない。というのは、エミリー・サリアーズの音楽ルーツはずっと深くたどるとジョニ・ミッチェルのやさしいサウンドがベースとなっていて、エイミー・レイの方はもっと骨太なプリテンダーズやボブ・モールドあたりからの影響が大きいのである。
