    ＜XL Recordings＞の傘下に新設されたレーベル＜ABEANO MUSIC（アビーノ・ミュージック）＞は、NMEの新人バンド編集担当だったイムラン・アーメッドが作ったレーベルで、彼が薦めるバンドはことごとくヒットを放つと言われている。アイ・ワズ・ア・カブ・スカウトはそのレーベルの新人アーティストである。ウィリアム・バワーマンとトッド・マリオットという、ノッティンガム出身の17歳２人よって05年6月に結成され、その数ヵ月後には早くもClub NMEで取り上げられて注目を集めた。06年にデビュー・シングル「Pink Squares」をリリース。パンク、ロック、ディスコを融合した踊れるサウンドが魅力的。
