    Glenn Hughesグレン・ヒューズ

    第三期ディープ・パープルのヴォーカリスト／ベーシストとして、ロック史にその名を刻んだグレン・ヒューズ。彼のキャリアは、Trapezeなる３ピース・ロックンロール・バンドより始まった。グレンのモータウン風情の技巧派ヴォーカル・スタイルが話題となり73年、デイヴィッド・カヴァデール（vo）と共にディープ・パープルへ加入。翌74年発表の金字塔的名盤『BURN』を生み出す大きな原動力となった。とくに表題曲「Burn」における鬼気迫るヴォーカリゼイションは、鋼鉄史の一つのハイライトと言えよう。
    76年のグループ解散後は、ソロ・アーティストとして活躍。ゲイリー・ムーアやトニー・アイオミ、イアン・ギランらメタル・ゴッドたちとのコラボレートを通して、濃厚な作品を多数世に輩出している。
