Gene Autryジーン・オートリー
ジーン・オートリーは若いころ、オクラホマに住み鉄道会社の電信技師をしていた。時々ギターを片手に歌を書いたりして暇をつぶしていたが、ある時お客さんがそれを見て、転職してラジオ局にでも売り込んだらどうかとアドバイスしてくれた（そのお客とはウィル・ロジャース）。それをきっかけにニューヨークへ向かい、世界でもっとも有名な、歌うカウボーイとなったのだ。スクリーンの上で100人以上の黒帽子をかぶった悪者をやっつけ、その後にすずしい顔をして歌を歌ったものである。古いカウボーイのクラシックのほかには、クリスマスのスタンダード「赤い鼻のトナカイ」「サンタが街にやってきた」「フロスティー・ザ・スノーマン」なども披露。こうしたクリスマス・キャロルや、「ディープ・イン・ザ・ハート・オブ・テキサス」「ブラック・イン・ザ・サドル・アゲイン」といったカントリーのヒット曲で、彼のいかにも豊かな声は世界中の子供やお母さんたちに親しまれ、なんとそれは60年以上も続いている。
