    Fenton Robinsonフェントン・ロビンソン

    モダン・ブルース世代のシカゴ・ブルースマン。ヴォーカル／ギター・プレイ／楽曲……と、そのどれをとっても独創的で、メロウでアーバナイズされたサウンドは同時代でも異彩を放っていた。
    そんなフェントンの名を決定付けたのが「Somebody Loan Me a Dime」だ。繊細かつ緊張感溢れる歌声と縦横無尽といった感のあるギターが、なんとも絶品なモダン・ブルースの金字塔である。後にボズ・スキャッグスがカヴァーした折に、自作とクレジットしたことで盗作問題にまで発展したことでも有名だ。
    60年代後半には交通事故を起こし、活動が停滞してしまうが、その後も＜アリゲイター＞やヨーロッパのインディ・レーベルに録音を残している。
    97年に脳癌で死亡。
