Elbowエルボー
またまたダメ男はびこるイングランド北部の都市、マンチェスターから素晴らしいバンドが現れた。ガイ・ガーウェイ（vo）、マーク・ポッター（g）、ピーター・ターナー（b）、リチャード・ジャップ（dr）、クレイグ・ポッター（key）の５人によるエルボー——名前も秀逸なこのバンドであるが、00年にリリースされたシングル「NewBorn」と「Any Day Now」が各メディアで絶賛を浴び、"The Next Big Thing"と称されている。
元々、プログレッシヴ・ロックや60年代フォークを織り交ぜた曲を作っていたという彼らだが、そこにマンチェスター特有の風——ジョイ・ディヴィジョン、スミス、ストーン・ローゼスと綿々と受け継がれてきたマチズモ（男根主義）的哀感——が吹き込まれ、叙情的かつドラマチックな世界を現出しているといえる。
01年には１stアルバム『アスリープ・イン・ザ・バック』を発表。UKギター・ロック・ファン必聴の一枚である。
