    Don Prestonドン・プレストン

    レオン・ラッセル＆ザ・シェルター・ピープルのギタリストとしても知られる。他にもセッション・ミュージシャンとして、ジョー・コッカー／ドン・ニックス／J.J.ケール／デイヴ・メイソン／ダニエル・ムーアのレコーディングに参加したのをはじめ、ジョージ・ハリスンの"バングラディッシュ・コンサート"にも出場。——70年代のL.A.スワンプ・コネクションを支えた名脇役といえよう。
    ソロでは、ドン・ニックスがプロデュースで参加した１st『Bluse』（69年）や自らのバンド、ザ・サウスとの『Hot Air through a Straw』（69年）などがあるが、オススメはレオン・ラッセル主宰の＜シェルター＞からリリースされた74年の『Been Here All the Time』。
    ラッセルやニックスに較べると、よりブルース色が濃厚なサウンドをコッテリと展開。またそんな中に、ジョージ・ハリソン風のポップな味付けのナンバーがあったりするのも、英国の影響が南部のミュージシャンにどのように及んでいるかを知る上でも興味深いだろう。
    80年代にも『Sacre Blues』というアルバムを発表したが、それ以降の消息は一切不明だ。
