    カーティス・ジョーンズのように歌うことができる人間などいるわけがない。深く喉を鳴らしながら嘆き叫ぶようなその歌声は、テノールの美しいトレモロを届けてくれる。ギターを弾いていた彼が、神からの授かり物であろうピアノの才能に気づくのにそれほど時間はかからず、ギターからの転向は至極当然の成り行きであった。「ティン・パン・アレイ」や「ローンサム・ベッドルーム・ブルース」などのブルース・スタンダードで有名なジョーンズは、36年から62年までレコーディング活動を行っている。そして最後の62年には、当時全盛であったフォーク・ブームのリスナーまでも魅了してしまう大人気ぶりを発揮した。なお、逸作『ローンサム・ベッドルーム・ブルース』の制作後ヨーロッパに渡り、71年に生涯を閉じるまで演奏活動を続けた。
