    ワイアーの３枚目の実験的なアルバム『154』は様々なアーティストに影響を与えるものだったが、４枚目として予定されていたアルバムが彼らのレーベルに却下されてしまったのをきっかけにメンバーのひとり、コーリン・ニューマンのソロ活動が始まった。コーリン・ニューマンはヴァージン・プルーンズやミニマル・コンパクトといったバンドのプロデュースをし、また一方では自分の楽曲をレコーディングしている。彼の作品は、ワイアー時代のギターを主体とした曲構成から次第に実験的な電子系サウンドに焦点を当てたものへと変わっていった。現在もリリースのたびに、新しい試みに挑戦し続けている。
