    80年代後半から、魂のこもった活動を続ける世直しロック・バンド、カーターU.S.M.。90年に『労働者階級の激情』でアルバム・デビューを果たす。リズム・マシンと２本のギターから鳴らされる爆裂パンク・サウンドと、大英帝国が抱えるへヴィな社会問題をテーマとした辛辣な詞世界を武器に、一大旋風を巻き起こしたのだった。そして91年の２ndアルバム『サーティ・サムシング』にて不動の人気を獲得。94年にはドラマーが加入し、よりシンプルかつタイトなバンド・サウンドへとシフト・チェンジを遂げる。現在も、その“レイジ・アゲインスト・ザ・社会”なスピリットはまったく衰えていないようだ。
