Calexicoキャレキシコ
キャレキシコは、ジャイアント・サンドとOP8のメンバーから成るバンドである。彼らの音楽を聴くと、メキシコ国境の近く、目覚めると独りぼっちで周りには荷物を積んだロバと半分空になったテキーラのボトルだけ、という光景を想像してしまう。音の方は、哀愁たっぷりのギターやセルジオ・レオーネのマカロニ・ウエスタンに出てきそうな音を使った、寂しげで砂漠が良く似合うスロー・テンポの曲が中心だ。マリアッチのバンドと切なく響くペダル・スティールやアコーディオンの音色、そして時折抑えたトーンで歌われるジョーイ・バーンズのヴォーカルが、馬にまたがった荒くれ者達の集まる、埃にまみれた悲しみの街へと聴く者を誘うだろう。
