    古くはアリソン・スタットン（ヤング・マーブル・ジャイアンツ）、ビリンダ・ブッチャー（マイ・ブラッディ・ヴァレンタイン）、最近ではベス・ギブンス（ポーティスヘッド）と無気力系女性ヴォーカルは多々いるが、このブロードキャストのトリッシュ・キーナン——この無気力ぶりはハンパじゃない。彼女のヴォーカルには気力がないばかりか、おそらく生体反応装置には絶対引っかからないほど"生きている"感じがしない瞬間がある。
    95年、イギリスのバーミンガムで結成され、米＜ドラッグ・シティ＞や英＜ワープ＞から作品をリリースしている、アンビエント・ポップ・ユニット、ブロードキャスト。ドリーミィなサウンドスケープのなかにバート・バカラックにも通じるポップ感を盛り込み、麗しきサイケデリアを繰り広げている。そこにのるキーナンのヴォイスは優しいのだけれどまるであの世からの誘いのようで、時に凡庸としたシーンに対する冷笑のごとく妖しい光を放っている。脆弱とした自らの想いを見透かされているようで、いたたまれない気持ちに陥ってしまう……。
