    個性が強いとその分フォロワーも出にくいが。女性的なメイクとファッションをしているにも拘らず、歩けばドスドスと音がしそうな大男——という点だけを見れば、SHAZNAのIZAMはボーイ・ジョージの正しいフォロワーだったのかもしれない。
    しかしあの、美しくもどこか悲しげな瞳をした彼が、もったりとしたステップを踏みながら唄う、体制に流されない主義主張の明確さや、生まれ持ったサガゆえの切実さを湛えた歌とその声が擁したソウルは、真似して出来るものではないだろう。
    82年にジョン・モス／マイケル・クレイグ／ロイ・ヘイらと結成した多国籍バンド、カルチャー・クラブでデビュー。「DO YOU REALLY WANT TO HURT ME」を皮切りに「TIME」「Karma Chameleon」などシングル・ヒットを連発するが、86年に彼がドラッグで逮捕され、バンドは活動を停止した。
    しかし87年からソロで活動を再開。別名でインド音楽をベースにしたアルバムを出したり、アコースティックものを取り入れたり、さまざまなアプローチを取り入れながら作品を創ってきた。その後はハウス系のDJとしても活動し、それに準じた内容のアルバムもリリース。また、98年にはカルチャー・クラブも復活している。
