    ルイジアナ州が生んだ盲目のソウル・シンガー。60年代中期から70年代にかけてバトン・ルージュで影響力をもつホワイト・レコードよりシングルを多数リリースし、65年に発表された「C.C.ライダー」が限られた地域で控えめにオンエアされていた。当時表面的にもてはやされていた他のR&Bアーティストたちほど注目は集めなかったものの、人々の心に残る楽曲を残している。生々しく荒削りで野性味あふれる音楽性は、レーベルのブルース・ルーツへの依存そのものにちがいないが、ポップの定義とゴスペルの要素を溶け込ませたサザン・ソウル色あふれた限りなく濃いファンキーな作品を作り上げている。
