    Barclay James Harvestバークレイ・ジェイムス・ハーヴェスト

    ロック・ミュージックが派手化／大音量化に向かって突き進んでいた60年代後半〜70年代前半にかけて、逆説的な牧歌的ほのぼのロックで、つつましやかさあらばこその自己主張を成し遂げていたバンド。
    デビュー後も、ヨークシャーの田舎から出てこようとはせず、毎年お伽話を聴かせるようなしみじみしたアルバムをリリース。当初はブリティッシュ・トラッド風味だったサウンドも徐々にアメリカナイズされたものにバック・トゥ・ルーツしていったが、慌てず騒がずのたたずまいは不変だった。ツアーも、カンタベリー系の地味渋なバンドとの共演が多かった。長い歴史を誇りながらも、メンバー・チェンジのほとんどない、骨の髄までホンワカしたバンドである。　（小池清彦）
