    Barbecue Bobバーベキュー・ボブ

    ジョージア州アトランタといえば現在まで、黒人音楽が非常に"強い"都市の１つとして有名だが、戦前この街に独創的なブルースを広めた人物がいた。それがバーベキュー・ボブことロバート・ヒックスである。
    12弦ギターを使用し、低音弦で独特のアクセントを入れながら、ボトルネックを効果的に鳴らす。——喉を絞り上げるように発声する歌唱法も相まって、このパーカッシヴなブルースは、新しいスタイルとしてアトランタに定着した。
    29歳という若さで亡くなってしまったが、録音は意外にも多く27〜30年までに60曲以上を残している。
