ニューオリンズを本拠地に、60年代に活動した女性シンガー。62年の「I Know（You Don't Love Me No More）」が有名だ。このナンバー、彼女が所属した＜AFOレコーズ＞最大のヒット・ナンバーで、ご当地特有の緩さとキャッチーさが同居した名曲である。ニューオリンズを代表するセッション・ミュージシャンによる演奏／アレンジも聴き物で、後にハーブ・アルパートが一連のヒット曲の下敷きにしたり、フィル・スペクターがイントロを拝借したりした。ロック・ファンにとってはボニー・レイットのカヴァーが有名だろう。
その後、バーバラは他レーベルで数曲吹き込みを行ったが、そのうちシーンから姿を消してしまった。
