    日本では過小評価されているが、カナダでは絶大な人気を誇るメロディアス・ハードロック・グループ。
    69年に結成され、72年にアルバム『April Wine』でデビューを飾る。そして73年に放ったシングル「You Could Have Been a Lady」がカナダのヒット・チャートでNo.１を記録したことにより、その人気に火が点く。77年にはギタリスト、ブライアン・グリーンウェイが加入し、以降、重厚なトリプル・ギター・サウンドを武器にカナディアン・ハードの金字塔を打ち立てた。
    80年代には産業ロック的なエッセンスも取り入れ、名バラード「Just Between You and Me」が大ヒット。幅広いファン層を獲得し、カナダの国民的グループとなった。
