    808 Stateエイトオーエイト・ステイト

    イギリスのアシッド・ハウス・ブームが頂点を迎えた88年に、マンチェスターで結成された808ステイトは、『New Build』にてシーンに登場。人間が創ったものとは思えないほどに唸り狂ったTB-303のベース・サウンドを、レイヴァーの脳に焼きつけたのであった。しかし、2ndアルバム『Quadrastate』では一転してアンビエント調の荘厳なエレクトロニック・サウンドを展開し、その多彩なプロダクションの実力と存在感を大きくアピール——。その後も「Pacific」('89)「Cubik-Olimpic」('90)「Leo Leo」('91)といった数々の不朽の名作を残し、「Ooops」（'91）においては、ビョークとのコラボレーションが話題となった。
    90年代から今日に至るまでのUKテクノ・シーンに、大きな変革と影響を与え続けた重要な存在である。
