The Nolansザ・ノーランズ

日本でも絶大な人気を誇った５人組姉妹グループ、ノーランズ。アイルランドはダブリンの出身で、75年に結成されたグループである。
当時流行を見せていた煌びやかなディスコ・サウンド。それをふんだんに取り入れたサウンド＝キャンディ・ポップを志向したノーランズは、そのキュートさや健康的な色気も相まって「ダンシング・シスター」「恋のハッピー・デート」など、80年代初頭に数多くのヒット・ナンバーを生産した。
後に一時は活動を休止するも、「ダンシング・シスター'89」で見事復活。91年には和製ポップスのカヴァー・アルバムも発表している。
